Foundation Gymnastics represents the next chapter in Minnesota's rich gymnastics tradition, founded by Mike Burns, who served as head coach of the University of Minnesota men's gymnastics team from 2005-2021. Under Burns' leadership, the Gophers program built upon its legendary legacy of 21 Big Ten Conference titles and achieved national prominence, earning a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Championships in 2021, with the historic program producing 19 individual NCAA champions, dozens of All-Americans, and two U.S. Olympians throughout its storied century-old history. This exceptional pedigree and decades of high-level coaching experience now form the foundation of our new club, where the same championship-caliber instruction and training philosophy that developed collegiate All-Americans and Olympic athletes will be carefully adapted and filtered down through every level of our program. From our youngest preschool tumblers taking their first steps into the sport to our most advanced competitive athletes pursuing elite goals, every class at Foundation Gymnastics will benefit from coaching expertise honed at the highest levels of collegiate competition, ensuring that each gymnast receives world-class instruction tailored to their individual development stage and aspirations.
